Are you looking for a first-class opportunity to realise your doctorate at our university? We offer two attractive ways to start your research career: the doctoral programme at the Texoversum Faculty of Textiles and the cooperative doctorate.

Research areas/PhD topics

A doctorate is generally possible in all areas of the university's range of subjects. Doctoral topics are agreed with the contact persons at the universities.

Doctoral programmes

In autumn 2022, the universities of applied sciences (UAS) in Baden-Württemberg were granted the right to award doctorates as part of a doctoral association. The association includes all state universities of applied sciences as well as the three church-run universities in Baden-Württemberg. A doctoral centre has also been set up for professors with particularly strong research skills in order to ensure quality assurance and exchange across research boundaries. All members of the doctoral centre can carry out doctorates, the doctoral degree is awarded by the association, the participation of a university is no longer mandatory.

A total of 223 founding members have qualified for the doctoral centre, 20 of whom are professors at Reutlingen University. This means that the university is strongly represented and can cover a broad thematic spectrum. From social, behavioural and economic sciences, computer science, electrical engineering and engineering sciences to life sciences, biotechnology and medical technology - doctorates can be supervised in all of these subject areas at Reutlingen University in the future. Other professors can be accepted as members of the association if they fulfil the criteria in terms of research strength.

MORE

Our doctoral programme offers a unique opportunity for intensive professional exchange and joint research projects. By working closely with experienced researchers and other doctoral students, you will not only expand your knowledge, but also establish valuable networks for your professional future. The interdisciplinary structure of the doctoral programme makes it possible to integrate different perspectives and develop innovative solutions.

In principle, doctorates can be completed at Reutlingen University if they are carried out in cooperation with a university. The TEXOVERSUM Faculty of Textiles has a broad network of cooperating universities.

The co-operative doctorate combines theoretical research at the universities with practical research at the universities. This close interlinking of theory and practice opens up numerous opportunities to realise your research project directly in reality. This approach not only promotes application-orientation, but also facilitates the transfer of knowledge between science and industry.

Our university attaches great importance to offering doctoral candidates a comprehensive and practice-orientated education. No matter which path you choose - whether the doctoral programme or the cooperative doctorate - we will support you on your way to a successful doctorate.
